I am very new! :help:

How do I customize the text at the top of the index page? Where it says "Hello there, Guest!" if the person is not logged in? (Is there a name for that box?) Alternatively, how can I add a similar box that describes how the bulletin board works?

I would be happy to read the documention on this, if someone could point me *to* the documentation.

Many thanks!

Patti
You can edit the header_welcomeblock_guest

That is located in your ACP > Templates > *Your Template Set* > Modify > header_welcomeblock_guest.

:)
I did it!! Thanks!

I guess this means that I will *finally* have to learn HTML!
I still have a couple fo questions on this topic:

1. I created a new template called (originally enough) template2. I edited the header_welcomeblock_guest entry, which did and did not work. It did *add* the text that I entered, but it still says, "Hello There, Guest." This is redundant, given the new text that I had entered, and I could see no place that those words are to edit. How/where do I edit this text, not just add to it?

2. And I think this is related to #1 above, when I try to edit template2, the *original* text is all that is there. To find my edits, I must do a search for a word ("homeschool") that I know is in my edit but could be nowhere else in the DB. How do I find my edits without doing a search? I can see that that would get unwieldy after I have edited just a few entries.

Thanks so much!

Patti
The Welcome text is found in one of the language files (editable in ACP if the files have proper permissions) I believe (not entirely sure) it is in global.lang.php
